Claude for Google Ads: how to use Claude to analyse and manage your account (2026)

Connect Claude to Google Ads and the slow parts of PPC — mining search terms, auditing accounts, checking impression share — become questions you ask in plain English, answered from your live account.

This page compares the ways to connect Claude to Google Ads, what Claude is good at once it's connected, prompts to try, and the limits worth knowing before it touches a live account.

The short version

Claude can analyse Google Ads once you connect it through an MCP connector. Google's official server is free and open source but read-only and self-hosted; GoMarble's is hosted, covers Google alongside Meta and your store, and can propose changes for your approval. Claude Code with a CLI suits technical users and bulk work.

1. Ways to connect Claude to Google Ads

Claude knows nothing about your ad account until you connect it. There are five ways to do that, and they differ in what Claude can see and whether it can change anything.

Google's official Google Ads MCP server

Open-source server from Google with three tools: list accessible accounts, run GAQL queries, and read resource metadata.

Setup: Run it locally, or self-host it on Google Cloud Run; needs an OAuth client or application default credentials

GoMarble's hosted MCP

One hosted connection to Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads, plus Shopify, GA4, Search Console and Klaviyo.

Setup: Connect your accounts in GoMarble, then add the GoMarble connector in Claude

2. Setting up Claude with Google Ads, step by step

For GoMarble's connector, connect your Google Ads account in GoMarble first, then in Claude:

  1. Open Claude's connector settings.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Enter https://apps.gomarble.ai/mcp-api/sse, then select Authorize.
  4. Choose the GoMarble workspace and ad accounts Claude can use.

Google's official server is different: Claude's web app can only reach servers on the public internet, so you either run it locally with Claude Desktop or Claude Code, or deploy it to Google Cloud Run first. Google's docs say developer tokens were retired on 9 September 2026 and are no longer required.

Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free (which allows one custom connector). On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organisation and members then connect their own accounts.

Using ChatGPT instead? The same connectors work there on Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. And if you were looking for advertising inside ChatGPT, that’s a different thing — see ChatGPT Ads.

4. Prompts to try

Once Claude is connected, paste any of these. Swap in your own date ranges and campaign names.

How did this account perform last month versus the month before?
Which search terms are spending without converting? Propose a negative keyword list.
Am I losing impression share to budget or to rank?
Why did my CPA increase this week?
Which keywords have the highest cost and the lowest conversion rate?
How much am I spending on branded versus non-branded terms?
Which responsive search ad assets are performing best?
How are my Performance Max asset groups doing?
Did anything change in the account before performance dropped?

5. What Claude can't do with Google Ads

Change anything through Google's official server

Google's server is read-only in its current release. Claude can find the wasted search terms but can't add the negatives — you'd make the change yourself or use a connector that can propose it.

Be trusted blindly with numbers

GAQL queries and attribution settings are easy to get subtly wrong. Check any figure you're going to act on or report.

Know your margins

A keyword that looks wasteful may sell a high-margin product. Unless margins are in the data, that context is yours.

Replace Smart Bidding

Google already sets bids. Claude helps with inputs — search terms, structure, budgets — rather than fighting the algorithm.

Work while you're not asking

A chat only runs when you open it. Nothing watches impression share or pacing overnight unless something is scheduled to.

Run these in Claude with GoMarble

Every job above has a free, copy-paste workflow. Connect GoMarble's MCP to Claude once, then paste any of these to run it on your live Google Ads account:

Browse every GoMarble workflow for Claude → Each one is a free prompt you paste into Claude once GoMarble's MCP is connected.

6. Claude vs GoMarble AI Agents

Claude with a connector is the right tool when you have a question. When you want the account watched whether or not anyone asks, you need an agent.

Most teams use both: GoMarble's connector for the questions they ask in Claude, and agents for the work that should happen every day. See AI agents for marketing for how agents work.

FAQ

Can Claude manage Google Ads?
Claude can analyse Google Ads through any connector. Making changes depends on the connector: Google's official server is read-only, while GoMarble's proposes changes for your approval.
How do I connect Claude to Google Ads?
The quickest way is a hosted connector such as GoMarble's: connect Google Ads in GoMarble, add the connector in Claude's settings and authorise. Google's official server needs running locally or self-hosting first.
Do I need a Google Ads developer token?
Not for Google's official MCP server any more — Google's documentation says developer tokens were retired on 9 September 2026. You still need OAuth credentials. Hosted connectors handle authentication for you.
Do I need a paid Claude plan?
Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free (which allows one custom connector). On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organisation and members then connect their own accounts.
Can Claude Code manage Google Ads?
Yes, with a CLI or an MCP server configured in Claude Code. It suits technical users and bulk changes — see our Google Ads CLI guide.
Can Claude write Google Ads copy?
Yes. It can draft responsive search ad headlines and descriptions, and with a connector it can base them on which existing assets perform best.
Does this work with ChatGPT too?
GoMarble's connector works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, n8n and other MCP clients through the same server URL. Google's official server works with any MCP client you can configure.

Ask Claude about every channel at once.

Connect Google Ads, your other ad platforms and your store to GoMarble, and use the same connection in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
